Luciano Thomé e Castro

INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATED PROFESSOR

Luciano Castro is an international affiliated professor in Food and Agribusiness Management at Purdue University. He has served as a marketing and sales professor for over 15 years, most recently as a clinical associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue and a faculty member in the Business Administration Department at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

As executive director of Markestrat in Brazil, Luciano worked as a consultant on projects in the marketing and sales area in the crop protection, seed, irrigation, machinery, fertilizer and cattle industries covering Brazilian, as well as other Latin American Countries and the US agribusiness markets. He is the author of several marketing and sales books and peer reviewed articles in academic journals and case studies.

Luciano earned his doctorate from the University of Sao Paulo in 2008, during which time he came to Purdue on a visiting scholar appointment where he wrote a PhD thesis on ag-input distribution channels and the comparison between America and Brazil. He also earned his master’s degree in sales management and bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Sao Paulo with an extension in Germany at the University of Kiel in 2004. Luciano resides in Brazil with his wife, Virginia, and their children, Lais and Natalia.
