Food policies, especially changing policies about taxation or regulation, are often hotly debated. The Center for Food Demand Analysis and Sustainability (CFDAS)’s Consumer Food Insights work by Dr. Jayson L. Lusk and Samuel Polzin has delved into where Americans stand on some hotly-debated food policies, including the expansion of SNAP benefits and fast food zoning laws.

What food policies do Americans support? U.S. consumers were in favor of supporting agricultural research and conservation programs even more so in March 2022 than they were in January or February preceding. They also support regulation on environmental claims on products. On the other hand, taxing carbon emissions and sweetened beverage or regulating fast food zoning are much less popular.
